The first training camp for the upcoming season has been completed. What did it all look like?
We stayed in a hotel complex near the Spanish coastal town of Denia. Most of the teammates were present at the training camp, as well as sports directors, coaches, masseurs, mechanics… in short, the whole team that accompanies and supports us throughout the whole season. On the Spanish roads, where there was no shortage of slopes and ascends, we managed to do good and varied training. Some of these training sessions were already on a very high level – difficult and long. We found some time to do some training on the bike for chronometer as well as basic ergometer testing. The weather was perfect, so we really enjoyed the given conditions and had a great time… the positive energy and atmosphere in the team were spot on!
The hotel complex where we stayed offered a wide range of different activities including swimming pools and a large fitness center, but our focus now was exclusively on cycling training and accumulating kilometers on our bikes. After the training sessions, there was time only for some good massage, rest, proper nutrition, socializing with teammates and getting to know new faces in the team.
Now I am back in Monaco for a few days. Here I will do some quality training together with Urška, and then I will continue with altitude training in Sierra Nevada (Spain), where a “narrow” team will be gathered. At the end of February, this team will be defending the victory at the UAE Tour, our first race of the season. The team’s home race is also my first goal in the spring part of the season. I can’t wait for it all to start! No time to fool around as preparations are already in full swing.
