Tomorrow, February 23, 2020, the stage race in the United Arab Emirates will begin with a start in Dubai, with Tadej Pogačar also competing. For Tadej, this will be the second race of the season after a two-week competitive break. After winning Valencia for the first time, the goals are of course high, especially when we know that this is a home race for the UAE Team Emirates. There will be 7 stages in the race (Feb 23-29), four of which are flat, one hilly and two mountainous with the finish up the hill (Jebel Hafeet – 9.2km 7.2%). Tadej arrived to Dubai a few days before the start, where the team had some group easy trainings, which primarily serve to adapt the body to higher daytime temperatures.

Before the race, Tadej said the following:
“Again in the race, we arrived in Dubai two days before the start. The UAE Tour stage race is also my first goal of the season. Yesterday, I and the teammates had an easier training but today we have an activation training before the race and tomorrow we will start in Dubai. The race configuration is not too difficult. In the sprinter stages, we are counting on Gaviria, who will have our support. In the other stages, however, the boys will help me, especially in the two mountain stages with the finish line on top. The preparedness is good and I hope at least the same as it was in Spain two weeks ago. However, the competition of other teams or competitors may be a little bit bigger here. I will always do my best as to where this will lead me, we will see on Saturday at the end of the last stage. “
